William Floyd Delafield Jr., known fondly as Delo, age 79, passed away on October 25 in Bryn Mawr, PA. He was born on November 1, 1944 in Chestnut Hill PA., to Helen Fox and William Floyd Delafield.
Bill attended Westminster School in Simsbury, CT. and graduated from Proctor Academy in Andover, NH, followed by a stint at Boston University. His service in the Military was marked by his association with the prestigious First Troop Philadelphia City Calvary, reflecting his commitment and dedication this duties.
Bill worked for WFIL for 5 years before finding employment with Edward and Burgo Starr at Weldon Nursery, in Bryn Mawr. While at Weldon and under the mentorship of Burgo, he displayed numerous winning horticulture exhibits, some of which were awarded Best in Show at the Philadelphia Flower Show. After thirty years and with the death of Edward Starr, Bill went to work for his longtime friend Chris Arader at Arader Tree Company. Bill led the landscape division until his retirement in 2024. He loved his career and made many long term friends while consulting on their projects. He was a member of the State in Schuykill and served as Governor for 4 years. He was a member of the Rabbit where he enjoyed convivial conservation and great food.
He is survived by his wife Debbie, their daughters Cory (Stark) Townend, Alyssa (Patrick) Slattery and 6 grandchildren- George, Beau, Preston, Brendan, Anne and Ruth. Sister Diana, numerous nieces and nephews and the Howfield Family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Church of the Redeemer, 230 Pennswood Road, Bryn Mawr, PA, 19010 on Saturday, November 9th at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill's memory Church of the Redeemer.

He will be missed by the whole DFA for his devotion to the family and wonderful, gracious sense of humor. Our hearts go out to Debbie, his children and grandchildren.
