William D. Demers, 90, of Johnston, passed away on Thursday August 8th at the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Cora A. (Cook) Demers. They had been happily married for 67 years.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Lucien and Grace (Pellerin) Demers. He had lived in Johnston for most of his life. He was an US Army veteran.
Bill was a master carpenter. After his retirement he worked for Benny's. He was a life member of the Greystone Social Club and an avid golfer.
He loved bowling, The Montreal Canadians, horseshoes, solitaire, any competitive card game and his beloved dog Gracie.
Besides his wife he leaves his children Janelle Hackett (David Hackett) of Scituate, Lisa Muscatelli (Paul Muscatelli) of Johnston, David Demers (Hazel Profughi) of Smithfield and Wendy Carroll Antunes (Celso Antunes) of Johnston.
His Grandchildren: The late Jenna Turcotte, Caitlin Hackett, Dana Rabbitt, Emma Hackett, RJ Turcotte, William Demers,Stephen Carroll and Mackenzie Carroll. Great grandchild: Alexis Turcotte.
He was the brother of the late Paul Demers, Bertrand Demers and Claire Bolton. He was called to heaven on his mom's birthday as she came to get her baby boy, Billy.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 17th at 11:30am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation will be held from 10am to 11:30am. Please omit flowers. Donations in his memory may be made to HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center
