Roselyn "Roz" Mancini, 69, of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at her home on October 12, 2025, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was the beloved wife of Peter Mancini, and together they shared 39 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Roselyn Reilly. Roz lived in Johnston for over 30 years before moving to North Smithfield in 1997.
Roz spent more than 32 years as a dedicated nurse in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, caring for others with compassion, humor, and an unshakable work ethic. She earned her Associate's degree from the Community College of Rhode Island and her Bachelor's degree from Roger Williams College (now Roger Williams University). Throughout her career, Roz made a difference in countless lives - her patients, colleagues, and friends will always remember her kindness, her generosity, and her genuine desire to help others.
Full of life and known for her wonderful sense of humor, Roz had a gift for bringing people together. Her annual Christmas Eve party was one of her greatest joys - a night filled with love, laughter, and delicious Italian food, where she delighted in spoiling her family and creating memories that will last forever. Whether it was a wedding, shower, or any reason to celebrate, Roz was always at the heart of it - organizing, joking, and making sure everyone felt loved.
She loved her family, her pets, good movies, Saturday Night Live, and the music of the Grateful Dead. A passionate football fan, Roz proudly cheered for the New England Patriots and the University of Alabama, never missing a game and always ready with strong opinions on every play. Her lighthearted spirit and love for life made every gathering brighter.
Roz leaves behind her five sons and two stepdaughters: Daniel Pilkington and his wife Chrystal of Southington, CT; Michael Pilkington and his wife Elizabeth of West Palm Beach, FL; Joseph Mancini and his wife Brittany of Warwick, RI; Peter Mancini and his wife Grace of Nutley, NJ; Christopher Mancini and his significant other Taryn Gaguin of Brattleboro, VT; Lisa Scanlon and her husband Jeff of Olean, NY; and Julie Mancini and her significant other Desi Powers of Weatherford, TX. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, with another on the way; four great-grandchildren; her sisters Patricia, Ellie, and Susan; her brothers Timothy and Charles; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The Mancini family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Roz's dear friends who surrounded her with love, care, and unwavering support during this difficult time. Her best friend, Jo-Ann McGee, quickly became like family when Roz moved to North Smithfield. Jo-Ann remained faithfully by her side through her final days, offering extraordinary care, comfort, and companionship. The family will forever be grateful for her love and devotion, as well as for the many friends who helped provide around-the-clock care and support.
Roz will be remembered for her generous heart, her strength, her humor, and the joy she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday October 18th at 9am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church Street, North Smithfield, RI. Burial will be in Highland Park, Johnston. Visitation will be held on Friday October 17th from 4-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to VNA Care of New England, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886 VNA Care of New England
