Albert Vincent Mancini passed away peacefully on Sunday; July 16, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Sunday, September 17, 1933 and lived at his life-long home on the south side of
Amsterdam, New York. He was a 1951 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.He was drafted into the United States Army in 1953 and served with merit as the Squad Leader of Company A, 3rd Infantry Regiment, assigned to the "Old Guard" at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC, serving as the Color Guard carrying the American Flag and the Presidential Colors for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. This man, to whom family was so important, is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Jane (Petrosino) Mancini; his beloved children: Anne Church (Craig), late Jeanne Shaw (JR), Christopher Mancini (Carolyn), Paul Mancini (Michelle), Megan Eglin (Kenneth), and his adored grandchildren: Ainslie Church Ressel (Sean), Jahna Church, Ethan Church,Zachary Shaw (Kay Kambe), Adam Mancini, William Mancini, Olivia Mancini, Nico Mancini, Antonio Mancini, Isabel Mancini, Sarah Mancini, David Mancini, Christopher Albert Eglin and Stella Eglin.He leaves behind his sister, Esther Morrone, cherished nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews!He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Elivira Mancini, his brother, Lawrence Mancini (Norma), his sisters: Josephine Alteri (Herman), Natalie DeRocco (Roy) and brother-in-law Roland Morrone.Al Mancini was a driving force in his church and his community, as well as being active in politics. He had active roles in the Elks Club, the South Side Veterans, the Amsterdam Housing Authority, The Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and the Parish Council.He was the Democratic Commissioner of Elections and the 5th Ward, 4th District Supervisor. He was an avid reader of history and current events, completely engaging in conversations of the world and politics. He truly enjoyed travel especially to visit family near and far. He kept himself busy in his free time landscaping his home and that of his children.It brings his family great comfort to know he is now reunited with his late daughter Jeanne.The family will receive relatives and friends 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street,
Amsterdam, New York.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with the Very Reverend O. Robert DeMartinis officiating.
