William Dodenhoff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Robertson Funeral & Cremation Service - Charlotte on Mar. 10, 2026.
William (Bill) Clayton Dodenhoff, Charlotte, NC, passed away March 6, 2026. He was 86 years old.

Bill was born in Greenville, SC, and was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Ann C. Dodenhoff, and by his son Scott Dodenhoff.

He graduated from Greenville High School, SC, and attended Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Bill then served honorably in the United States Air Force for six years.

Bill had a private pilot's license and a love for flying. He owned several airplanes throughout his life, but his favorite was the Beechcraft Duchess, a twin-engine monoplane.

Throughout his career he was involved in many business 'start-ups'. An entrepreneur at heart, his passion was in research and development; always striving to find ways to refine the product.

Bill is survived by: wife Dorothy V. Dodenhoff after 50 years of marriage, sister Ann Blalock (Charlotte, NC), son Cary (Dawn) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and son Paul (Annette) of Houston, Texas.

In lieu of a Memorial service, Bill requested that family & friends make their personal goodbyes at their convenience.

Yesterday

Several weeks ago Bill sent me a long message about his health and said he wouldn't be around much longer. We go way back to our elementary school days (Augusta Circle) in Greenville, SC. Such a great man and I will miss knowing he is out there. So glad to have been his friend.
