William Donald Doles March 4, 1955 – April 8, 2025 William Donald Doles, age 70, of Fort Valley, Georgia, passed away on April 8, 2025, at Pine Point Hospice in Macon, Georgia, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 4, 1955, in Fort Valley, he was the son of Donnie and June Doles. Known as "Don" to all who loved him, he graduated from Beechwood School in Marshallville, Georgia, and went on to attend Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia. In his youth, Don was an accomplished athlete with a standout knuckleball on the baseball field. He was also a star football player and an exceptional basketball player, renowned for his rebounding ability. As the eldest son, Don was a cherished brother, friend, and leader in his community, leaving an indelible mark with his kindness, generosity, and infectious sense of humor. Don spent more than 23 years as a Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Inspector General (OIG), where he investigated and helped prosecute numerous multi-million-dollar fraud schemes across North Carolina and Georgia. His work was both impactful and far-reaching, earning him recognition, including an appearance on the Fraud Fighter podcast. The bonds he formed with his colleagues were strong, and many became like family to him. Though Don found immense satisfaction in his career, his greatest joy in recent years came from spending time with his family, especially his three grandsons, who adored him. Don had a love for the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting, and "the pond" was his favorite retreat. An avid animal lover, Don's dogs, much like him, were gentle giants. In his later years, Don found fulfillment attending his grandsons' sports and school events, where his enthusiasm and storytelling abilities made him a beloved presence. Don had an impressive wealth of knowledge, especially in farming, passed down from his father, and was a true jack-of-all-trades. His love for music spanned all genres, and he could often be found sharing his favorite songs and stories with those around him. Above all, Don was a protector, always there for those he loved. His selflessness and sensitivity, combined with his quiet strength, made him a steady presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He lived his life with deep care and a sense of duty to others, and his legacy of kindness and love will continue to inspire those who carry on his memory. Don is survived by his children, Morgan (Stephen) Stincer, Haley (Kyle) Kaufman, and Will Doles; his three grandsons, Hudson Kaufman, Hatcher Stincer, and Hollis Stincer; and his siblings, Gwen Hudgins, Jim Doles, and Jeff Doles. He was preceded in death by his father, Donnie Doles, his mother, June Doles, his grandparents, and many close friends and relatives. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 12th, at 2:00 pm at Fort Valley Methodist Church. The family will welcome visitors starting at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Don's memory to the Central Georgia Cancer Care Foundation, Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, Fort Valley Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. Don was deeply loved by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the lives of his family and friends, who will carry forward his lessons of kindness, care, and unwavering support. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." - Thomas Campbell With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

For me, Don was the consummate Southern gentleman and southern charm all in one wonderful person. I first met Don right after he´d graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy. We worked together and he taught me so much about crop insurance and related farm programs. Never heard him say a bad word about anyone - seemed to always see the better side in people, even those he was investigating. A smile for all who were luck enough to know him. Don, it was my honor to know and work with you. May you rest peacefully! Iris

Words can´t express how much I think of Don. We met through work in 2006, and he treated me like family ever since. He was my mentor at work and taught me so much about how to be successful in my professional career. More importantly, he taught me things about life and family that made me a better son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He was truly one of the kindest persons I have ever known. I could listen to him forever as he told of life experiences particularly those about family that he loved dearly.

Also, on behalf of Don´s USDA-OIG family, please accept our sincere condolences. Don will forever be a legend at USDA-OIG.

May God bless you as you mourn but may you look forward to that great reunion with him in heaven.
