William Donald “Don” Beasley, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025, at his home. Visitation: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 520 Wilson Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 7121 Mt. Vernon Road SE, Cedar Rapids. Burial will take place at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth, Illinois at a later date.
Don was born on January 23, 1934, in Brewton, Alabama, the son of Roy and Cora (Huggins) Beasley. Growing up in the Great Depression, he learned to live with very little. He lived by his bible-based convictions and was a faithful servant to Jehovah until the day of his passing. He graduated from Harrison High School, Chicago, Illinois and attended Northwestern University. Don was united in marriage to Delsie Nelson on August 1, 1964. Don worked for Texaco for 38 years, retiring in 1994. He was an elder for Jehovah’s Witnesses for the past 50 years. Don was a Crimson Tide fan and could frequently be found in his University of Alabama jacket uttering those familiar words, “Roll Tide!”. Don saw the best in everyone, never complained, remained humble, and appreciative of everything and everyone in his life. Every time you spoke with him, he was wearing a smile.
Survivors include his children, Mark (Annie) Beasley of Cedar Rapids and Rebekah (Scott) Hale of Louisiana; grandchildren, Tyler and Tucker Celestine; and cousins, Ray (Marilu) Beasley, and Sarah Barganier.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Delsie Beasley and his parents.
