William Nessley Dowden, age 65, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 1, 2025.
William was a proud member of the NRA and found joy and love in shooting. A lifelong enthusiast of martial arts, a devoted Michigan football fan. Go Blue! He was an admirer of John Wayne and loved western movies. He had a spirited personality shaped by the things he loved.
After the passing of his wife, William moved north to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren. His grandchildren were his heart; they were, without question, his greatest pride and joy. A devoted family man, he was always there for his children—never missing a soccer game, football game, track meet, swim meet or band performance. His presence was steady, loving, and unwavering.
William shared his home with his two loyal huskies, Sierra and Loki, who were constant companions. He had a deep love for the outdoors, embracing countless adventures and explorations. Among all the places he traveled, his favorite by far was Grand Lake, where his wife’s family gathered every summer. It was there, surrounded by natural beauty and family memories, that he felt most at peace. He especially loved kayaking the lake to watch the sunset.
William leaves behind a family who adored him, countless memories of laughter and love, and a legacy of dedication, strength, and support. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and by his children, Alexandria (Aaron) Henriksen, Victoria (Evan) Henriksen, and Nicholas (Madison Paschen) Dowden; grandchildren, Liam, Osmin, and Joslynn; sister, Kathy (Troy) Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews. William is preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Dowden; and both of his parents.
William will be remembered privately by his family during this time. They will hold a celebration of life for William at a later date.
