EASTERLIN, Jr., William "Bill" Lynn

William "Bill" Lynn Easterlin, Jr., 91, of Atlanta, GA, died peacefully Monday, December 9, 2024 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Bill was born on February 18, 1933 in Andersonville, GA to William Lynn Easterlin Sr. and Mrs. Emma Gene Easterlin. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Paul Cullen Easterlin, and his wife, Linda Downs Easterlin.

Bill attended the University of Georgia, graduating in 1953, and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He met and married his wife of 68 years, Linda, on December 8, 1956, in Athens and later made their home in Atlanta. After a 20-year career with American Charts, Bill joined Linda in her catering business. After attending the German Wine Academy, he taught wine appreciation at UGA's Center for Continuing Education.

He dedicated himself to his community both as a faithful member of St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church for over 65 years and as a volunteer for 17 years with St. Joseph's Hospital. In 2015, Bill was awarded for providing 5000+ hours of service to St. Joseph's. An avid gardener, reader, baker, and game enthusiast, Bill was known for his quick smile and great laugh. He traveled extensively, visiting Asia, Africa, North and South America, Europe, and Australia.

Bill is survived by his children, Edward Downs Easterlin (Nan) of Atlanta; Nancy Easterlin-Smith of Roswell, GA; and William Lynn Easterlin III (Nancy) of Savannah, GA. He also leaves behind six grandchildren:Mallie Easterlin and Clara Easterlin Reames (Grey) of Nashville, TN; Edward "Ward" Downs Easterlin Jr. (Lucy Mostellar) and Jessica Easterlin of Atlanta; Emma Smith of Roswell, GA; and Sally Smith of Easley, SC.

A burial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 17, 2024, at St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church, followed by a reception in Gable Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the St. Martin's Endowment fund (stmartins.org).
