William R. Fielding, 89, devoted husband of 62 years to Ann (Borelli) Fielding, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026.Bill was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, to the late William S. and Abbie (Collier) Fielding. He made East Longmeadow his home for 59 years. Bill dedicated 41 years of service to MassMutual, retiring as a Pension Administrator. His strong work ethic was evident throughout his life. At just 16 years old, he began caddying at Longmeadow Country Club and was honored in 2002 for his 50 years of service as a caddie. After stepping away from caddying, he stayed on part-time in the bag room, where the club and its community brought him joy and camaraderie .Bill was an avid reader, candlepin bowler, and meticulous keeper of statistics for his rotisserie sports teams. He especially loved watching and attending sporting events with his family. He was a lifelong fan of Boston sports teams, particularly the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics, and followed the UConn Huskies Women's Basketball team. He found simple pleasures in playing the slots at the casinos, spending time at Misquamicut Beach and Cape Cod, and taking cross-country road trips to visit national parks. One of his favorite traditions was traveling to Saratoga Race Track with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever.Bill attended Springfield High School of Commerce, graduating in 1954, where he was co-captain of the basketball team. He continued his love of the game by playing in recreational leagues, including MassMutual's league. He later attended night school and earned his bachelor's degree from American International College. He proudly served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves, specializing in 105mm howitzer guns and received an honorable discharge. Above all else, Bill's greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann, and their beloved children, Donna Fielding; William Fielding and his wife Patricia; Pamela Fielding and partner, David Richardson; his cherished grandchildren, Carly Corcoran and husband Joseph; and Brynn Fielding; his brother, Tom (Cynthia) Fielding; and many extended family members who will miss him dearly.
