William "Bill" L. Fields entered this life on December 2, 1946, in Davenport, IA. He was the son of Lester and Dorothy Osborn Fields. Bill grew up in Davenport where he attended Catholic School. He met the love of his life Ruth, and together they were the proud parents of eight children. He was a man who lived his life with an unwavering dedication to his family and a love for the simple pleasures of life. Bill's spontaneous nature often led to unexpected family outings for ice cream or adventures in the great outdoors. Bill always took time on the weekends to be with his family on many fishing and camping trips. He also took great pleasure in raising and looking after his horses. He was a skilled carpenter, a profession that he not only made a living from but also genuinely enjoyed. His work in construction was respected by many, and his craftsmanship was a testament to his hard work and dedication.

Bill was a proud US Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. His dedication to his country was a noteworthy aspect of his life, which he carried with both humility and dignity. In 1981, Bill and Ruth relocated to Milton, IA, where he established a home for his family and spent the remainder of his years. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the life of a man who was truly a cornerstone in the lives of those he loved.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, His wife, Ruth (2024) and three siblings, Jacque, Gene, and Patricia.

Bill's legacy is carried on by his children: Leslie Henry (Kim) of Oregon, Deanna Fields of Oregon, Frank Daughtery of Cantril, Mark Daughtery (Bobbi Jo) of New London, MO, Michael Fields (Christine) of Milton, Sherri Daughtery (Flint Downey) of Mount Sterling, Laura Hawks (Scott) of Mount Pleasant, and Heidi Shafranek (Clifford) of Milton. He was the proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, as well as many extended family and friends.
