William Fippinger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkerson Funeral Home - Vanceboro on Nov. 7, 2022.
William Edward Fippinger, 73, son of late Edward and Florence Fippinger died Sunday, November 6, 2022.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday, November 11th, at 3 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Vanceboro. Burial will be private.
William, who was known as "Bill" or "Flip" to many, was born in DuPage County, Illinois. He spent his youth in Downers Grove on his family's dairy farm. His father and him believed that they were closest to God when they were working in His creation. He was very active as an EMT and volunteer fireman with Darien Woodridge Fire Department. He was very passionate about this work and spoke fondly of it his whole life.
He had been a resident of Vanceboro for 32 years where he continued his work as a Sears repairman. After 26 years of experience he could fix or build just about anything. His final job led him to the Craven Correction Institution where he became a favorite corrections officer; known for the respect that he showed the inmates. William worked hard his entire life to give his family the very best. He loved his wife, Lois, very deeply and his children and grandchildren were the apple of his eye.
He also had a love of entertainment, especially science fiction. He loved learning about history, science and mysteries of the universe. While his favorite was the show Star Trek, he enjoyed watching any kind of science fiction where he was encouraged to ask the question, "what if?"
Mr. Fippinger was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jones Fippinger, and his sister, Florence Annamay Good.
He is survived by his son, James Grveles of Lisle, IL; daughter, Jennifer Elson and husband, John of Vanceboro, NC; granddaughters, Mackenzie Grveles and Hannah Elson; grandson, Hayden Elson.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 11th from 1 to 2:30 PM at the funeral home.
