William Donald "Don" Freeman, 76, of
Auburn, Alabama, passed away on December 15, 2025. Born on May 26, 1949, in
Columbus, Georgia, Don was the son of the late W.D. Freeman and Elizabeth Louise Freeman. He was raised with strong values rooted in faith, family, and personal responsibility-principles that shaped every season of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Kay Freeman; his daughter, Donna Elizabeth Freeman; his brothers, Robert Freeman and Arver Freeman; and his grandparents, Bessie and Johnny McDowell.
Don dedicated many years of his professional life to West Point Stevens as a computer programmer. He took pride in his work and was known for his steady, thoughtful approach to solving problems. He valued doing things correctly, thoroughly, and with integrity, believing that quiet reliability mattered more than recognition.
Family was the center of Don's world. He shared a deep and enduring love with his wife, Kay, whom he considered the love of his life. Don was a proud and loving father to his daughter and deeply respected his son-in-law, whom he welcomed as his own. One of his greatest joys was being a grandfather; he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and took great pride in watching them grow.
In his personal life, Don found joy in fishing, football, gun collecting, and time spent with family. He was best known for his stories, often humorous, sometimes reflective, always memorable-and for the way he connected people through shared experiences.
Faith was the foundation of Don's life. He was deeply committed to Bible study and his church family, and he was known for openly sharing his love of Christ with others through conversation, example, and encouragement. His favorite hymn, "How Great Thou Art," reflects the reverence and gratitude that characterized his faith.
Above all else, Don was a devoted son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle who cherished his family and took his role within it seriously. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and J.R. Jung; his grandchildren, KayLee Freeman, Hannah-Grace Schrinel, and Liam Schrinel, all of
Auburn, Alabama; his brother, Randy Freeman (Sharon); his sister-in-law, Sandra Freeman; his nieces, Rebecca Ayers (Jeff) and Rhonda Freeman; and his nephew, Josh Freeman.
Don's legacy is found in his faith in Christ, his devotion to family, and the example he set for those who knew him.
