William E. "Bill" Freudenthal, Sr., of Framingham, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the age of 89 after a valiant fight against metastatic lung cancer.

Family was everything to Bill. He loved his entire family beyond measure.

Bill was born in 1936 in Coco Solo, Panama Canal Zone Naval Station to Chief Petty Officer Almon "Gene" Freudenthal and Doris (Forkey) Freudenthal.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Doris (Forkey) and Almon "Gene" Freudenthal, son Michael Freudenthal, brother Richard Freudenthal, sister Betty Sherman, long term soulmate and lifetime partner Florence (Levine) Sachs, and former wife Dianne (Serra) Moehl, with whom he raised their three children.

Bill leaves his son, Bill Freudenthal, Jr., daughter, Elena Lorkiewicz and her husband Bob, daughter-in-law, Maria Freudenthal, sisters, Dorothy, Milly and Peggy Freudenthal, granddaughters, Danielle, Ashley, Lauren, and Stacey, great-grandchildren, Rowan, James, and Brielle, and Florence's family, Michael and Janet Sachs and their daughters, Hannah and Madeline, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Bill, along with his Mother and his sister Betty, was living at the civilian Naval Base while his Father was aboard the U.S.S. Keosanqua. It was a tragedy that affected Bill for the rest of his life.

Bill is a graduate of Oxford High School, Northeastern University, served in the Marines, worked for Raytheon, GTE Laboratories, and Selectron. He was a gifted engineer who has several patents in his name.

Bill and Florence had an active and full life together at Little Farms Road traveling, socializing with many friends, volunteering in the Framingham and surrounding community, hiking, biking, camping, square dancing and line dancing.

In 2019, Bill moved to Shillman House where he was a very active and much beloved member of the community. He will be missed.

Dad was a viable member of his faith community at Edwards Church. The family extends its gratitude to its members for their support during his illness and most notably Reverend Dr. Deborah Clark .

The family extends many thanks to Metrowest Hospice, Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation, the staff of Dr. Michael Bean in Framingham and the thoracic staffs of Dr. Kozono and Dr. Marcoux at Dana Farber for their steadfast compassionate care and professionalism.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shillman House, 49 Edmands Road, Framingham, MA 01701 a 2Life Community in memory of Bill Freudenthal.
