William Henry Gaeke

A memorial service for William Henry Gaeke, 91 of Giddings, Texas are scheduled for Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating.
William was born on April 21, 1933 in Giddings, Texas to Louis Henry Gaeke and Annie Christiana (Farrack) Gaeke. He was baptized on April 30, 1933 by Rev. G.W. Fischer and confirmed on December 19, 1961 by Rev. Max Studtman at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He joined the United States Army and received the rank of Corporal. William was honorably discharged on June 22, 1955. He married his wife Mary Louise Fretwell in Houston on December 15, 1955. William went to work at Droemer industries as a bricklayer and then moved to Gaeke Construction where he retired after 37 years. He was a member of the Mel's and Brookshires Coffee Club. If William was not working on other people's projects, you could find him fishing, traveling to Houston or spending time with his family.
William passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 in Bryan, Texas with his family by his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Annie Gaeke, his daughter Loretta Ehler, and one brother Edmond Gaeke.
William is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Gaeke of Giddings; daughter, Penny and husband Charlie Kornegay of Bryan; son-in-law, David Ehler and wife Gayla of Flatonia; five grandchildren, Chris Kornegay of Austin, Nikki Kornegay of Austin, Amy and husband Alex Roman of Waco, David "DJ" Ehler and wife Sannu of La Grange, and Jason Ehler and wife Julie of Abilene; eight great grandchildren; three siblings, Louis Gaeke of Giddings, Lucille Brannon of Brenham, and Virginia Varecka of Pearland, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
