It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Gainey, 57, on May 6, 2025, in Huntersville, North Carolina. He was a loving dad to Gigi (17) and Kai (11), and the devoted husband to his wife Megan. Along with his deep kindness and inspiring gratitude, he will be remembered for his tremendous love of his family, the outdoors, and the perfect cup of coffee.
He was born on January 9, 1968, in Rockingham, North Carolina, to Lawrence Gainey and Sandy Rainwater. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he studied business and economics. He joined the Army in 1992, becoming a radiologic technologist. He had a fulfilling career in healthcare, embracing his natural drive to help others.
Among the many friends and family he loved with his whole heart, he will be missed by his mother, Sandy, and her husband, Carl, along with his sister Sherri, her husband Chad, his nephew Austin, and niece Hailey.
A memorial service will be held at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC on Saturday, May 17 at 10:30 am, with a reception to follow the service.
