William Gamba Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Silverton Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Toms River on Mar. 7, 2026.
William A. Gamba ("Bill"), 94, passed away on March 7, 2026 at home after a short illness. Bill was born on February 2, 1932 in Newark, NJ, to Nicholas and Mary (Capone) Gamba. Bill was raised in East Orange, NJ, and graduated from East Orange High School in 1950. Bill proudly served in the US Army in Europe during the Korean Conflict. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeanette A. Gamba (Quatraro), who predeceased him in January 2022 after 63 wonderful years together. Bill and Jeanette raised their family in Union, NJ for 31 years, making many lifelong friends.

Another 30 years were spent at the Four Seasons Community Association in Lakewood, NJ, where Bill was involved in many activities. He served on the Architectural Committee, Mens Club, Italian American Club, and enjoyed golf, bocce, card games, shuffleboard, and fishing off the Jersey Shore. Bill helped organize Buon Amici, a nonprofit charitable Italian Club formed in 1998. Bill became one of its presidents during its 10 years in existence, with the club donating over $12,000 to charitable organizations and for earthquake relief in Italy. Bill and Jeanette enjoyed traveling together and participating in social activities with their friends at the Four Seasons.

Bill worked in the printing and typesetting industry for many years before starting AYR Composition in 1972, a typesetting service company for printers and advertising agencies offering quality service and loyalty to their many customers. He retired in 2001 and his sons continued his legacy as AYR Composition and Proforma AYR Graphics and Printing.

Surviving are his three sons, Nicholas, Carl (wife Kristen), and John (wife Debra), grandchildren Billy, Katelyn, Michael, Marissa, and Ava, and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Ophelia. He was predeceased by his brothers, Vincent and Louis, and granddaughter, Alexandria.

Bill's sense of humor, always friendly attitude, and happy go lucky persona will be sorely missed by many.

Funeral services will be held for Bill at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home in Toms River, NJ on Sunday March 15 from 1 to 5 pm, with a Catholic service being conducted at 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's honor can be made to Wounded Warriors Project and Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
