Charles Gamba Obituary

Charles J. "Skip" Gamba, 79, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025. Born in Pittsfield on June 16, 1946, to John and Elea Ottino Gamba. He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and Westfield State College. He married the former Linda Cunningham in May 1970 at the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Charlie was a vocational teacher for 15 years at Taconic High School in machine technology, retiring in 2004. Prior to that, he worked for General Electric for 18 years and at many manufacturing mold shops. As a classic car enthusiast, in his retirement, he delivered auto parts for Advance Auto.

Charlie was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He was a member of the Mopar Car Club, and he enjoyed owning and restoring many classic cars, as well as Cub Cadets -if it had a motor, he loved it!

Charlie will always be remembered for his steady presence and sense of humor.

Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda Gamba; his brother, Ralph Gamba, and his children, Gina, Leah, and Peter Gamba of Maryland; his niece, Pamela Babcock, whom he loved as his daughter, and her children, Alex and Delaney Babcock, whom he loved as his grandchildren; as well as many friends who are considered family.

He was predeceased by his sister, Dorene Gamba Skilton, and his niece Joan Gamba.

Funeral Notice: A private family burial will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice and mailed to Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

I was fortunate to have Charlie as a colleague while teaching at Taconic. He was an asset as a faculty member of the vocational staff. Charlie was always there to help with a school shop project with guidance or assistance. Charlie was a dependable and caring individual who offered a helping hand either in or outside of school. I'm grateful to say Charlie was a friend of mine.
