I was so sorry to hear about Bill's passing. He was a wonderful and kind man. My mom and dad were very fond of Bill. He was wonderful to my mom, especially during her battle with Alzheimers. He continued to visit her in St. Mary's even after she stopped recognizing us and even after she stopped communicating.
I have many fond memories of Bill from both PVI and many family functions. One of my favorites was when I had him for history. Our classes were different times each day, and he would often forget about our class on Wednesday's. The students were too afraid to leave when he wouldn't show up for this class in case he came in late. Which most times he did arrive late. One day he just totally misses the class. Later that day he stops me in the hallway and says in a very stern voice, "Miss McGough, what have I told you to do when I forget about class on Wednesday?" I respond, "I don't remember what you told me to do." He says, "I told you to buzz the office and remind me about it." Now we all know that wouldn't have gone over well with my classmates! So I said, "With all due respect, when I cut class will you buzz the cafeteria and let me know I've forgot to come to class?" He just laughed and said, "Fair enough."
The world is a sadder place with his passing, but I'm sure my mom and dad are there to greet him. I'm so sorry for Cathy and his family and many friends who love him, but he will always be with us in spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your loss. Coleen McGough
