William Gerity Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dobbling Funeral Home - Fort Thomas on Apr. 20, 2025.
William Joseph Gerity, 76 of Highland Heights, KY passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2025. Born on Feb. 5th, 1949 in Boston, Massachusetts to Bill & Mary Gerity. He is survived by Judy Gerity, his wife of 53 incredible years. Also survived by his sister Cindy McGrath (husband- Brad McGrath), living in Massachusetts along with their two children John, Molly & their families. Growing up in Boston, Bill developed a love for water and that love continued through his time in the Coast Guard (1974-78). That connection with water inspired Bill to apply to Boat Building School where he was accepted with only a few others. Yet, his true love in life was his wife Judy, marrying in 1971. They began their life together in Maine, searching for a purpose through various volunteering opportunities. Bill & Judy found their lasting joy and careers in 1981, when with arms linked, they were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses. For the next 44 years their joy continued serving as full-time ministers, teaching others about the Bible and the true God, Jehovah. In 1996 their greatest privilege came when Bill was asked to serve as a Circuit Overseer. They spent 23 wonderful years in their assignment, zealously and lovingly shepherding congregations throughout the U.S. It was obvious to all that Bill delighted in teaching others Bible truths, whether it was in the door to door preaching work, giving Convention and Assembly talks or conducting Pioneer Schools. Bill wanted everyone to know that Jehovah loved them and that beingone of Jehovah's Witnesses was the safest place they could be. The life-long friendships created and the many faith strengthening experiences along the way, were deeply cherished by both Bill & Judy! Other things that brought a smile to Bill's face included watching sports, assembling model kits, playing with Chopper, reading mysteries, crunchy bread and coconut gelato! His use of teaching illustrations, his unmatched humility, and sense of humor will truly be missed. He will certainly be remembered for being simply, A Good Man! May we all remember Bill with the fondest of memories, until we embrace him again! A memorial service will be held at The Radisson Hotel Riverfront, Covington, KY, on Saturday,April 26, 2025 with Visitation from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m and a talk to follow by Harold Daniel.

Hello Judy,

I´m terribly sorry for your loss! You and Bill made an incredible team. You served Jehovah and his servants with love and great care. Like Jesus instructed Peter to do. It has been along time since I had the pleasure of your company.

I have no doubt that you both impacted many people´s lives in a very positive manner like you did mine!

I hope that you can find solace in our beautiful resurrection hope and knowing how Jehovah is the God of the living like Abraham, Isaac...and Bill!

My family´s prayers will be with you until you see him again.

Much love to you, my beautiful Sister!

I had just returned to the truth and was studying and coming to meetings after 17 years being gone. (grew up in the truth but never got baptized) Brother Garrity was the first circuit overseer I learned from and his humility and way of teaching touched my heart deeply and really helped me to start building faith and I got baptized. Since then I have grown in my relationship with Jehovah but I always fondly remember brother Garrity because I was so fragile and vulnerable at the time I met him and his example made a lasting impression on me. I am so sorry for your loss and look forward to seeing him again.
