William Albert Gibbs passed away September 17, 2025, at the Linda E White Hospice Center in Evansville IN. He was born on August 6,1940 to Ralph and Freda Gibbs. Albert was preceded in death by his parents and his Brothers, Dorris, Noble and Sister, Ruth. He is survived by his Nieces, Robin Martin (Scott), Tina Mattingly both of Mount Vernon and Angela Miller of Fort Branch, his Nephews Larry Wheeler of Kaufmann Texas and Paul Gibbs (Becky) of Owensville IN.

Albert graduated from Mount Vernon High, Dayton Junior College and Maranatha Bible college. He was an Air Force veteran. Albert loved the town of Mount Vernon and Black Township and worked very hard to make it a better place. He was Black Township Trustee for 20 years and during that time he helped build 2 fire stations and purchase a lot of new equipment for the fire fighters. During his time in the Trustee's Office he was voted the number one Trustee in the State of Indiana and he also received a Letter of Commendation from Governor Evan Bayh and from Governor Frank O'Bannon he was given the Distinguished Hoosier Award. He also helped in opening 2 homeless shelters in Mt. Vernon

Albert was a member of Owen Dunn American Legion Post 5, the General Thomas Posey chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution of which he spent 10 years as the President. He had previously been a member of the Lions club and the Posey County Historical Society. He also spent a great bit of time researching his Family's Genealogy and was able to trace it back to Germany early 1700's.

A graveside service will be held Saturday October 4th 1pm at Bellefontaine Cemetery, he asked that his ashes be laid to rest with his mother. In lieu of flowers the Family asks anyone that would like to, to make a donation to Easter seals Posey County at 5525 Industrial Road Mount Vernon IN 47620
