William Golding

William "Bill" Golding, 91, of Bourbonnais, passed away peacefully Friday (Oct. 7, 2022), at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born Oct. 20, 1930, in Kankakee, the son of Verne and Irene (Palmateer) Golding. Bill married Patricia Wulff, the love of his life, on Sept. 10, 1960. She preceded him in death Aug. 14, 2020. They had been married for nearly 60 years.

Bill was an office manager at Kankakee Industrial Supply and, in his later years, he worked part time at Kankakee Community College. He recently retired after 25 years as an avid eBay seller. Bill made stained glass and sang in a barbershop quartet.

He was a former Village of Bourbonnais Trustee.Â

Bill enjoyed antiquing, fishing and gardening. He made awesome soups and chili and was fondly known as "Grandpa Soup."

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David (Kelly) Golding, of Glenview, and Steve (Donna) Golding, of Naperville; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane (David) Menard-Eastburn, of Doylestown, Pa.; one sister, Patricia Arseneau, of South Carolina; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, he was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Amy Ahlden; one brother, Robert; one sister, Dorothy Potter and an infant sister.

Visitation will be from noon Wednesday, Oct. 12, until the 1:30 p.m. funeral service at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. David Eastburn will officiate the service. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais.
