Grassi
William J.
Age 88, of Plum, formerly of Penn Hills and East Liberty, a fighter till the end, he passed on Monday, March 17, 2025, following a courageous 6 year battle with Prostate cancer. Beloved husband of the late Theresa J. Grassi; Father of William "Bill" (Judy) Grassi, Judith "Judy" Cappella (Bruce Marsh), and Theresa "Terri" (Jim "Jimbo") Gelpi; Grandfather of Cara Mia (Chris) DiRubbo, Vito (Christina "Ina") Grassi, Rachel (Kelvin) Lovelace, Rocco (Kelly) Cappella, Natalie Gelpi (Bryan Boyer), and Vincent "Vinnie" Gelpi (Jessica Flowers); Great Grandfather of Stella, Enzo, Giancarlo, Kelin, Raekwon, Jevhoni, Antonio, and Chase; Brother of John (Margaret) Grassi, Teresa (the late Art) Wilson, and the late Eleanor (Ed) Nemanic; also survived by sister in law, Millie Jeffries, many cherished nieces and nephews, and his incredibly dedicated caregiver, Margie Reiter. He was loved and will be missed by many. Bill was a proud US Army Veteran. He loved his Italian heritage and had a passion for cooking. Community Market loved to see him coming! He showed his love through cooking well into his later years. No one left his home hungry and he didn't take no for an answer. If you entered his home, you left with a meal, and probably a to-go bag! He knew everyone's favorite dishes and made the effort to prepare them even into his final days. Trips to the casino and playing cards made up the other simple joys in his life. Friends received, Saturday, 6-8 pm & Sunday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd./Roth Chapel, 7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road) Penn Hills. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, 10:00am in St. Bernadette Church. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bridges Hospice, 4130 Monroeville Blvd., Monroeville, PA 15146, especially in honor of the loving care provided by the people who became family and were affectionately named the A-Team who tenderly cared for both Bill and his dear wife, Theresa, just a few years earlier.
