William Alex "Alex" Gregory ObituaryWilliam Alex Gregory was born on May 6, 1989 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and died in Chanhassen, Minnesota on April 28, 2025. He moved with his family to Eden Prairie, Minnesota at age 3 and attended Eden Prairie schools, where he graduated in 2007. He graduated from Augsburg College with a business administration degree and was employed as product manager, digital banking at Sharetec. He found his vocational passion there and had many great colleagues and friends.
Alex was a big-hearted and kind-hearted person who always cared for the underdog. He had a natural ear for music and as a child, picked out the theme songs to his favorite movies on the piano. He enjoyed many concerts, many together with family, including Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Chick Corea, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Arlo Guthrie, and James Taylor. A special favorite song of his was Everybody Loves the Sunshine, by Roy Ayers, and he listened to and enjoyed almost any kind of music.
He loved animals and they seemed to understand that about him. He cared deeply about animal welfare, loved his time during summer breaks working for the Minnesota Zoo, and showed a sense of awe when seeing animals in the wild.
Alex idolized his older brother, often emulating everything he did to the point of annoyance. Ultimately, he was his brother's best man through life. He was a proud and devoted uncle and godfather to his niece and nephew and will surely watch over them throughout their lives
He loved and was loved by his close-knit immediate family and by aunts, uncles, cousins, and long-time friends. He was a fiercely loyal and caring friend, son, brother, and uncle. He was a good and kind-hearted man.
Alex is survived by his mother and father, Meg and Scott, his brother, Adam, sister-in-law Kacie, and a beloved niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by grandparents Mort and Pat Cuplin and Bill and Inez Gregory. Visitation will begin at 3 pm with memorial service at 4 pm on Wednesday, May 7 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Excelsior. Memorials preferred to mnzoofoundation.org or jazz88.fm.
