William Thomas Grimes (86) of Clinton passed away January 30, 2026, at 4:00 AM at Clinton Gardens. Born, May 19, 1939, in Heady Hollow (north of Fishers, Indiana) to Jacob Clark Grimes and Laura Rubinia Nevitt Grimes. His parents passed away when William was a young boy of 13 years and he was raised by his older brother, Pete Grimes and his wife Avanelle. William graduated from Dana High School with the class of 1958; He was a self-employed contractor and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters: Charles Franklin Grimes, Sarah Louise Grimes Crow, Chester “Pete” Oliver Grimes, Harold Holmes Grimes, Marion Edward Grimes, and Mary Alice Grimes Crail.
Bill is survived by one daughter; Deborah Grimes of Clinton and one son; Tom Grimes of Hillsdale. Four grandchildren; Taylor Russell of Paris, IL, Jackie Russell of Paris, IL, Eli Grimes of Paris, IL and Kylee Grimes of Terre Haute, IN. Four great grandchildren; Jillian, Owen, Waylon and Jerzey. One brother; John Alden (Glenda) Grimes of Cicero, IN. Bonus siblings; Bonnie Kay Grimes, Dixson, Karen Sue Grimes Debolt, Judy Rae Grimes Wallace, Jean Ann Grimes Dunn and Martin Dean Grimes. Forever daughter-in-law; Krissy “Kris” Wood. Special friend and companion for thirty plus years; Karen Youmans. A memorial service will be conducted at Giovanini Funeral Home, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 4:00 PM with visiting hours starting at 2:00 PM. Military rites will be conducted at 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
