William J. GUNVILLE

GUNVILLE, William J. Of Weymouth, passed away after a lengthy illness. Bill was a lifelong Weymouth resident. He was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School and New England Institute. Bill had a lengthy career in the funeral industry. Bill also served the Town of Weymouth as Chairman of the Board of Selectman for many years. Bill was also a Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Church and Catholic TV.

Bill was the son of David and Elgie (McAskill) Gunville. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Gail A. Lovett; and brothers-in-law, Bob Clark and Richard Godin. Bill is survived by his daughter, Beth (Tom) Jacobs; his son, William; and daughter, Amy. His grandchildren, Barrett (Mackenzie), Thomas (Chelsea) Jacobs. Also, his great-grandchildren, Jack and Maggie Jacobs. Bill is also survived by his sisters, Mary Ann Clark and Claire Godin; also by his nephews and their families.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the Visiting Hours for Billy on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 4-7pm, in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.), WEYMOUTH, MA. Friends will gather in the funeral home on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 9:30am, for a Celebration of Life, prior to the Funeral Mass, which will take place at Immaculate Conception Church, on Broad St., at 10:30am. Cremation will follow and then Burial at a later date in St. Paul's Cemetery, Hingham.
