William Hale Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 18, 2025.
William Clayton Hale was born on June 24, 1955, in Lawton, Oklahoma to Bill and Nancy Hale. Clayton lost his battle to cancer on August 15, 2025. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

Clayton attended "Pony Stoint" Public Schools and Sterling Public Schools where he really enjoyed playing baseball. He then went to work at his parents' dairy farm.

He worked as a rancher in Arkansas for some time, then started working for the National Cattle Company in Oklahoma City Stockyards. He worked cattle all over the country for Eddie Sims.

Clayton started working at the Comanche County Barn, where he worked for 38 years until he retired.

Clayton enjoyed riding horses and riding bulls. He was a bull riding champ in 1982. He loved horse races and owned multiple racehorses throughout the years.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting with his boys, and drinking beers with his daughter at the Porter Hill Bait Shop. Clayton loved hunting rattlesnakes in the slick hills, and he has the rattlesnake bites to prove it. He always loved his animals. He had all kinds throughout the years: cattle, chickens, turkey, guineas, dogs, a fox, and a coyote named Wylie.

Clayton is survived by his partner in crime, Kathy Nickel; his daughter, Kelsey Jo and favorite son-in-law, Joe Jones; his son, Chizum Hale and wife Marlee; his son, Ty Hale; step-daughters: Wayna Biggs and Shayna Nickel; grandchildren: Brayden Biggs, Everliee Kennedy, Zane Hale, Memphis Hale, Hali Hale, Swayde Hale, Taos Hale, and Asa Espinoza; sisters: Cindy Moser and husband Trent, Pollyanna Bruce and husband Brack; brother, Craig Hale and wife Paula; niece: Toni Meier; nephews: Charlie Hale and wife Mary, Justin Cowin and wife Brittany, Devon and Jozey Miller, and Jake Moser; and his life-long friend, Steve Sullivan.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Nancy Hale; brother, Rusty Hale; daughter, Cassie Allison; ex-wife, Kelly Hale; mother-in-law, Grandma Jo; and nephews: Chris Hale and Colt Cowin.

Memorial service for Clayton Hale will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Cowboy Church Elgin–Apache, with Jamie Dees officiating.
