Dr. William Hambley, Jr. Obituary
Dr. William Carter Hambley, Jr. ("JR"), age 76, beloved son of the late Dr. William Carter and Alberta Hambley, passed away peacefully in Shalimar, Florida on May 10, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, wisdom, and compassion.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Dr. Patricia Hambley, with whom he built a life full of love and shared purpose. Together they raised four remarkable children: Katherine Robbins (née King); Robert King; William Carter Hambley, IV; and Caroline Wagner (née Hambley). As a father, he instilled in his children the values of integrity and hard work, while as a husband, he was a pillar of unwavering support and love.
JR was a cherished father-in-law to Jack Robbins and Devin Wagner. His role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, and he will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Lily and Emma Robbins and Wayne and Claire Wagner.
He is survived by his sister, Barbara Carter Keenan and preceded in death by his sister, Mary Catherine Reedy, and his brother, John Carter Hambley.
JR was a friend to many, known for his kindness, wisdom, humor, and storytelling. He captivated audiences with tales that could provoke belly laughs one moment and profound reflection the next. He was a man who took no nonsense, standing firm in his beliefs and principles.
A well-respected physician, Dr. Hambley's career was marked by his unwavering commitment to his patients and his field. His family takes comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on not only through his professional contributions but also through the countless stories and memories he shared, the lives he touched, and the example he set. Dr. Hambley's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who knew him.

I had the privilege to work with him many years ago. Though a tough cookie, he was the consummate professional. In my 30 years in the Radiology / Cardiology field I remember him as one the most disciplined people I have ever met. William was able to blend in humor whenever possible and did enjoy having a laugh. Learned a lot from him as well. Am honored to have gotten to know this good soul.

Russ always enjoyed his lunches with JR at Sugar Mill. I can remember going to the door and opening it and JR was standing there with dessert for Russ and I from Sugar Mill. He and Russ shared the same disease--I am so sorry.

Part of the world has gone with him. I dont think i have ever known anyone who was such a great guy. He was bold, outspoken, and so funny. So of the funny things he told me i will never forget. What a light he was. What i really want to say is that he had such confidence and power, and so goofy and light at the same time. Very decisive. And really i dont think i have ever known of anyone who i feel has take a part of the world away when he left; i mean such an impact he had on me, the best role model i have known.
