William C. Hanson Sr., age 93, of Stonington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

William was born on March 25, 1932 in Iron Mountain, the son of Nestor and Luella (Davis) Hanson. He grew up in Michigan, but over his life had homes in Milwaukee Wisconsin, Stonington Michigan, and Florida. He split his time the last 50 years between Stonington and Florida.

At 19, Bill was united in marriage to the former Betty Mosier and together they had two children, Susan and Linda. In 1962, Bill married the former Janice Lyden. They welcomed their son William C. Hanson Jr in 1964. Bill spent the last several years with his loving companion Connie Lorenson. Bill loved working hard, playing hard, hunting, having a Busch Lite, and taking rides around Stonington. From 1948 to 1972 he worked concrete road construction in Milwaukee and then moved back to Michigan where he formed Hanson and Son Trucking. He worked there until he officially retired in the summer of 2025. He enjoyed dancing the Polka, watching Gunsmoke, and going for daily walks and bike rides while he was in Florida. He will be deeply missed by many.

Bill is survived by his children William (Patti) Hanson Jr., Susan Anderson, and Linda (Bob) Harrison; step-daughter Sheila (Allen) Klever; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; siblings Elinore (Steve) Sekulich and Lori (Ivan) Hardwick; as well as sister-in-law Lenore Hanson.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife Janice; fiancé Connie; step-son Gary Shaw; grandson Clinton Harrison; great-grandchild Sheri Klever; and brother Richard Hanson.

Family will receive friends on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services honoring Bill will begin at 12:30 PM. Bill will be laid to rest in Fernwood Cemetery.
