William "Ronnie" Harris, 76, of Bernice, Louisiana, passed away at his residence on October 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Ronnie was born in his home in Bernice, Louisiana, and was named after his cousin, Ronnie "Goose" Elkins. He was a proud member of the Bernice High School Class of 1967, where he played fullback and linebacker for the Bernice Bears football team and was known as "Bull" by his teammates.
In 1968, he married his best friend and the love of his life, Vicki Henry Harris. Together, they raised two children, Brian and Monica, and shared nearly 57 wonderful years of marriage. Ronnie worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Magnolia, Stamps, and El Dorado, Arkansas; and he travelled extensively with his family across the United States.
Ronnie loved spending time outdoors-especially fishing with friends on Corney Creek and enjoying a cup of coffee on his back porch swing. He could always be found flipping through worn copies of his favorite westerns or watching the Saints play from his living room recliner. He cherished family reunions, always enjoying the laughter, stories, and good food shared with loved ones. Above all, Ronnie loved being with his family and friends, especially if it was at a fish fry. His family meant everything to him; and he never missed an opportunity to gather, laugh, and make memories with them.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Those who knew Ronnie will always remember his kindness and generosity. He would give anyone what they needed-even if it meant parting with an ice chest full of fish from a good day on the creek.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Margie Nutt Harris, and his siblings, Kent Harris, Don Harris, Jimmy Harris, Carol McClure, Joyce Aden, and Mary "Cookie" Grant. Their love and guidance stayed with him throughout his life, shaping the man he became.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Vicki Henry Harris; his children, Robert Brian Harris (Stacey) and Monica Harris Morrow (Clyde); grandchildren, Dustin Morrow (Courtney), Jacob Harvey, Anna Harris, Caleb Holtzclaw (Devin), Kennedi Bell (Brady), Trace Morrow, and Will Harris; great-grandchildren, Braylie Morrow, Oaklee Morrow, Tyler Ray, Dosson Ray, Camille Bell; his sister, Patricia Harris Evans (Roddie); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
A celebration of Ronnie's life will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, at Weldon Baptist Church, Bernice, Louisiana. The funeral will be held at Weldon Baptist Church on Saturday, October 18, at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Neil Everett officiating assisted by Brother Reagan Colvin. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Bernice, Louisiana under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Ruston, LA.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Morrow, Jacob Harvey, Brady Bell, Caleb Holtzclaw, Trace Morrow, and William Harris.
The family wishes to sincerely thank everyone for the prayers, visits, cards, food, and love shown over the past several months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Reeves Memorial Scholarship, P.O. Box 524, Bernice, LA 71222. (Note for Reeves Memorial Scholarship.)
