William Harvey Obituary

William Morris Harvey (80), "Bill," of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, passed away after a brief illness on November 1, 2025. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Susan Siau Harvey "Hankie", daughter and son-in-law, Erica and Steven Long, and two grandsons, Alexander and Connor. He was predeceased by his parents, Irvin and Elizabeth Harvey, and his sister, Susan Prentis.
After his birth in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1945, Bill's parents moved the family to the suburbs of Buffalo, New York, where he and his sister were raised. Bill graduated from Lehigh University in 1967 with a degree in industrial engineering, following in his father's footsteps. He went on to earn a masters in industrial engineering from Cornell University in 1968.
After spending a number of years as an engineer, Bill shifted his career towards the law, graduating from Georgetown University in 1973, where he served on the board for the school's law review. Following law school he helped form a boutique real estate law firm in Washington, DC. However, sometimes too smart for his own good, Bill often found himself looking for new challenges and worked at multiple law firms in several areas of law during his decades-long career.
In 1998, Bill helped found the real estate development company that became Urban Atlantic, located in Bethesda, Maryland. As a director there, Bill worked on over $3 Billion in real estate developments, built quality communities, and helped house thousands of people who needed it most. These projects spanned the Mid-Atlantic region, and included Rhode Island Row and the Arthur Capper Carrollsburg HOPE VI affordable housing project. Bill was a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL).
Despite his many career accomplishments, what Bill valued the most was his family. In 2015, Bill retired and moved with Susan back to her native South Carolina, where they built their dream home by the sea. In retirement, Bill remained active by playing golf, leading a film discussion series at the local library, and becoming an active member in the local Kiwanis Club. His most treasured time was spent with Susan, and doting on his daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons, who were the light of his life. Services at a later date.
