William Charles Hatten, age 92, of Madison, Mississippi, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 6, 2025.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Rochelle Hatten Massey (Aaron), and three beautiful granddaughters: Erin Nicole South (Tommy), Kristen Renee' Massey, and Kayla Elise' Massey. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Colton, Hayes, and Natalie South.
Mr. Hatten is also survived by his brothers, Fred Lamar Hatten and Edward Earl Hatten; his sister, Patsy Lanmon (Marvin); and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Hatten served as a cook on the front lines during the Korean War. After his active-duty service, he continued his dedication to country in the 172nd Air National Guard in Jackson, Mississippi. Alongside his military service, he worked as a clerk for the GM&O Railroad, which later became part of the ICG Railroad, where he retired after 32 years of faithful service.
Mr. Hatten was a devoted father, loyal friend, and a man who valued hard work and a simple life. His faith was his foundation, and he looked forward with joy to the day he would meet Jesus. Now, that joy is fulfilled.
Services are entrusted to Breeland Funeral Home with the visitation being held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Natchez Trace Funeral Home, followed by a chapel service at the Natchez Trace Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum and Military Honors presented at the committal service.
