William Braxton Hawthorne, 78, of Alberta, VA, passed away on October 11, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Known to family and friends as “W.B.” and to grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “B.”
W.B. is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Lambert Hawthorne; his children, Judi Daniel (F.M.), Bobbie Ann Lee, and Connie Cline (Mike).
W.B. leaves behind eight grandchildren, Katie Jo Welton (Mike), Wil Daniel (Krystal), Dalton Arthur (Kelsey), Walter Gray, Jordan Lee, Brandon Lee (Ashley), Austin and Stephen Cline; thirteen great-grandchildren, Mariah Atkins (Mikey), Zach Thomas (Natalie), Wyatt Welton, Greenlee and Hazel Daniel, and Colton Arthur, Zane, Zion, Amaryah, and Elias Gray, Amora and Alana Lee, and Wyatt Cline; one great-great-grandchild, Wesley Braxton Thomas.
W.B. also leaves behind two brothers, Burnell Hawthorne of Charles City, VA and Steve Hawthorne (Kathy) of Alberta.
W.B. was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Loraine Hawthorne of Alberta.
Our father was a hard-working man and spent a number of years running Hawthorne’s Servicenter in Alberta. If you ever stopped by the house or the shop, you know he Loved to talk. His conversations usually included motorcycles or airplanes.
We find comfort in knowing that B’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he had for his family, and the memories we will cherish forever.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA.
