William "Bill" Rudy Helm, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at home in New Boston, Michigan. Born on February 16, 1938, in Paducah, Kentucky, Bill lived a full and vibrant life of 87 years.

Bill was a man of simple joys, deeply cherishing time spent with family and friends. He found happiness in the little things-sharing a hearty breakfast with his Breakfast Club friends, or thrilling rides on his four-wheeler. A lover of nature and speed, Bill always had a special place in his heart for greyhounds and the great outdoors.

His hands were seldom idle, whether working on woodworking projects or playing a spirited game of cards. Bill was an avid supporter of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball, cheering them on and sharing his love of the team.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving parents, one sister, and two brothers. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen "Kathy" Helm; his children, Todd Helm, Julie Fargo and her husband Steve, Berta Lucas and her partner Tim; and his cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Derek, Brad, Allison, Marissa, and Colt. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his wonderful friends and neighbors including Lisa and Richard, John and Deb, Phil, Bob, Danny, Wes, Kenny, and too many others to list.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life during the visitation on Wednesday, August 13th, from 2-8 PM. Refreshments will be served throughout. A service in his honor will take place at 7 PM on the same day.

Bill's family has chosen the passage below as a token of remembrance of his life:

"Each day was too short for all the thoughts he wanted to think,

All the walks he wanted to take,

All the books he wanted to read,

All the friends he wanted to see."

Bill's warmth, humor, and love for life touched everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
