William Mercer Hockaday

William M. "Willie" Hockaday, 87 of Bowling Green passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. Born in Spotsylvania, he had a long career with FMC Plant in Fredericksburg, until it closed, and then Keller Industries in Milford. After retiring, he was a parts deliveryman for the NAPA store in Bowling Green. He loved to fish and was an avid NASCAR fan. He is survived by his companion of 47 years, Mary Martin; seven children, Jeffrey Hockaday, Vickie Lowe, Thomas Hockaday, Charlotte Heffler, Frances Beazley, Mary Lloyd and Terry Southworth; his sisters, Eloise Cobb and Margaret Downer; sixteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Sparta Vol. Fire Department.
