William "Bill" Matthew Hoffman, age 91, passed peacefully at his Menasha home on February 23, 2026 with his wife at his side. He was born March 15, 1934 to the late Helmer and Aurelia (Krause) Hoffman of Menasha. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1952, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 during the Korean War with the Amphibious Fleet on the USS LST-980 (USS Meeker County) as a Gunner’s Mate. On October 5, 1957, Bill married Beverly A. Showers, and together they shared 68 wonderful years while raising their five children.
After his service, William was employed at Menasha’s Woodenware and then Menasha Corporation until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed exercising at the Neenah YMCA, golf, fishing and spending time with his family. For 20 years William was a proud and active member of the Menasha VFW Post 2126 with 12 years as an Honor Guard.
William is survived by his wife, Beverly; and his children, John (Barbara) Hoffman of Sherwood, Bill (Ann) Hoffman of Athelstane, Karla (Joe) Berken of Cape Coral FL, and Karen (Larry) Mai of Menasha. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrea Richards, Brittney Braun, Kirsta Hoffman, Ryan Hoffman, Melanie Mack, Renee Davis, Matthew Roerdink, Terri Damato, Jesse St. John, James St. John, Jodi Owens, Christopher St. John, and Ben St. John.
William is preceded in death by his daughter, Charlene (Tim) St. John; his brother, James Hoffman; his sister, Lenore Miller; and his parents, Helmer and Aurelia Hoffman.
In respect to his wishes, no funeral mass or visitation services are planned. Bill will be laid to rest at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Menasha, WI.
