William Humbertson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. - Cumberland on Mar. 10, 2025.
William Edward "Bill" Humbertson, 81, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, March 8, 2025 in Cumberland, Maryland.
Born on February 13, 1944, in Cumberland, Bill was a proud graduate of LaSalle High School in 1962 and later attended Frostburg State University.
He dedicated much of his working career to Kelly-Springfield in Cumberland, Maryland and Goodyear in Akron, Ohio, where he worked in the "Livewire" department and sales division. In his younger years, he was employed at the local RCA store before eventually owning and operating a lawn care business in the North Canton, Ohio area during his retirement.
Bill was a devoted father to his children: Chris Humbertson and wife, Lisa, with whom he lived for the past six wonderful years; Rodney Humbertson; Lori Thompson and fiancé, Jason Day; and Tate E. Humbertson.
Known affectionately as Pap or Pappy, he was a cherished grandfather to Donovan Martin (Jessica), Savannah Tagliaferro (Anthony), Makena Humbertson, Jared Bittner, Peyton Thompson, Courtney Humbertson, and Tate Humbertson, Jr. His loved extended to his great-grandchildren: Wendell Sturgess-Martin, Lili and Melly Tagliaferro, and Haysley Humbertson. Bill is also survived by his beloved brother, Greg Humbertson (Corrie) and nephew, David; and nephew, Ty Humbertson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Humbertson; former spouse, Connie Humbertson; parents, Salem and Mary Humbertson; oldest brother, Ronald Humbertson; and niece, Dawn Humbertson.
Bill had a lifelong passion for youth sports, dedicating nearly 40 years to coaching and officiating baseball, soccer, and football in LaVale.
As time passed, his interests evolved to include caring for his vehicles, riding motorcycles with friends, supporting the local music scene, and most importantly, spending time with family. He found joy in listening to live music, dancing, taking trips to the beach or lake, celebrating birthdays and holidays, and simply being outdoors.
Throughout his battle with cancer, Bill displayed remarkable strength, courage, and dignity – never complaining, but instead continuing to embrace life fully until the very end. His unwavering spirit serves as an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him, but the memories he created will remain forever in their hearts.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held in the near future.
