Captain William J Irrig (USCG Ret) died peacefully at 12:33 am, March 6th, 2026, in Raleigh NC at the age of ninety-four.
His leadership, integrity, generosity, and determination will be missed. William served with honor, leading sailors with dedication throughout his lengthy career. He enlisted on Dec 13, 1948, was commissioned an officer on February 29, 1959, and retired on October 1, 1982.
William has gone on to meet his beloved wife Nancy, and his son Jon. William is survived by their children Mark, Stephanie, Christopher, and Heidi as well as by his many grand and great children and his sisters from New York.
Lord watch over him in his slumber and see his hammock stays on its number.
