William "Billy" Jackson, 65, of Dover, Delaware passed peacefully on November 1, 2025 surrounded by his children. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend whose loyalty, strength, and love shaped the lives of everyone blessed to know him.
Born on January 18, 1960 to Judith Schaming, Billy grew up with a strong sense of duty and family. He was a protector, a provider, and a man whose presence made others feel safe. His sense of humor, work ethic, and ability to love without conditions were at the core of who he was.
Billy proudly served his country as a veteran, and later built a career he was deeply proud of. He worked as a foreman with Local 79, where he formed lifelong friendships and earned the respect of those he worked with through his leadership, loyalty, and strong work ethic.
In 2025, Billy gave his life back to Christ and became a member of Greater Works Family Life Ministries, where he found renewed faith, peace, and a loving community that embraced him. Returning to God brought him comfort, purpose, and a sense of belonging that deeply enriched his final chapter.
Billy will always be remembered for his sharp wit, his love for music, his protective nature, and the laughter he brought into any room. He lived a life rooted in love - working hard, showing up when others needed him, and putting family first above all else.
Billy was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Bernetta Jackson, who passed away in September 2020. Losing Bernetta was a heartbreak that changed him profoundly, and yet he continued to show up for his family in every way he could. Those closest to him know that his heart never stopped loving her, and their connection remains unbreakable - even now.
Billy is survived by his six children - Yolanda Galloway, Dana Abbott, William Jackson Jr., Renee Clerk, Sterling Clerk, and Troy Clerk - along with his sons-in-law Glen Galloway and Triston Abbott, and daughters-in-law Laura Clerk and Jossy Jackson. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, his siblings Adrienne, Mary, Leslie, James, Wilson, and Kimberly, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog Tyson.
Billy - forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
Reunited at last with his beloved Bernetta.
