William Robert Jacobi passed away peacefully on Friday, July 14, 2023 at the age 89 with family and friends by his side. A very kind and gentle man who loved the outdoors, he lived a happy, healthy, and joyful life and will be greatly missed.
Bill was born in Milwaukee, WI, on January 27, 1934. He joined the army in 1958 and was stationed in various cities throughout Germany during his service. After the army, Bill began a career as an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 494. Although a resident in Waukesha, WI, Bill spent much of his time at his cabin in Eagle River, WI, where he liked to hunt, fish, snowmobile, and have a few beers at the local bar with close friends. He also liked to travel, taking hunting and fishing trips to Wyoming and Canada. The Green Bay Packers and the University of Wisconsin Badger football team were his favorite sports teams. Bill was also an avid reader of military history and enjoyed western movies and the television series "Yellowstone."
Bill is survived by longtime companion, Charlene Godfrey, and his loving, niece, Karen (Michael) Moreno; along with many great nieces, nephews, cherished friends, and neighbors. He is preceded in death by parents, William Rudolph Jacobi and Ceilia Rose Jacobi; sister, Marcella (Robert) Krause; nephew, Richard (Eleanor) Krause; and niece, Kathy (Gary) Onerheim.
The burial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 11, 2023, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7301 W. Nash Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Memorials in Bill’s name made to: Disabled American Veterans Charity are greatly appreciated: www.dav.org.
