Rev. William Henderson Jacobs, Jr., 80, passed away Saturday (June 21, 2025) at Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside in Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness.
He was born in Brunswick, GA to the late William Henderson Jacobs, Sr. and Marguerite Elizabeth Mattox Jacobs. He served in the United States Air Force and retired after 22 years of service. Following retirement he was employed with the State of Georgia at the Regional Youth Detention Center and the Juvenile Probation Office for 20 years. One of his greatest honors was becoming a Baptist minister. He was called to preach at several churches, Hebardville Baptist Church, Lulaton Baptist Church, and most recently at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Madison, FL. In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mavis Naomi Jacobs; and a great grandson, Rusty Beard.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Jacobs of Waycross; a daughter, Lisa Lynn Boatright (Greg) of Patterson; a son, Steven Jacobs, Sr. (Holly) of Waycross; five grandchildren, Sean Raulerson (Taylor), Stevie Jacobs, Jr. (Mae), Jennifer Raulerson, Ryan Jacobs, and Stephanie Jacobs; seven great grandchildren, Emery Thomas, Aubrey Beard, Noah Jacobs, Riley Jacobs, Jonah Jacobs, Isaiah Jacobs, and Autumn Arnold; a sister, Shirleen Thornton of Waynesville; a special niece, Jennifer Cherry of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (June 24, 2025) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in High Bluff Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at the funeral on Tuesday at 1 o'clock.
