William "Bill" Arthur Johnson, 95, of Hillsboro, IL, formerly of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Thursday morning, September 18, 2025, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Hillsboro, IL.

Bill was born March 3, 1930, in S. Otter Township, IL, a son of Elmer K. and Clara H. (Kunart) Johnson. Bill graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1948. He then married Alice Justice on September 19, 2009, at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church. She also proceeded him in death on February 7, 2019.

Bill had many interest over the years from waterskiing to eating Dairy Queen Blizzards when he was in the nursing home. He and Norma enjoyed traveling with a group of close friends who called themselves the "Nifty Fifties". A Cardinal baseball game could often be heard in the background as he worked in his yard. Most of all, he was a faithful Christian who truly loves his family, with or without blood lineage.

He was a member of the Carlinville United Methodist Church, the Macoupin County Historical Society, the Masons, the Guy Baird American Legion Post 554, and last but not least a member of the Macoupin County Antique Tractor Association.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, son, David B. Johnson, four sisters; Florence Wanlass, Clara E. Johnson, Zella Rusconi, and Mary Ann Smith, two brothers; James E. Johnson, and Louis E. Johnson, and granddaughter, Kerri Ann Johnson.

Just wanted to let your family know that I am thinking of your family at this difficult time. I enjoyed seeing your Dad and family at the nursing home. He was a pleasant man and your family took such good care of him. He always had a smile and his Cardinal hat and jacket on. You could tell he was loved and cared for. God bless you all at this difficult time.
