William Collins Jones V

William Collins Jones V was born on September 20, 1994, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the union of William Collins Jones IV and Tanya Blouin Jones. He departed this life on May 5, 2022, by drowning due to mental illness. Affectionately known as Lil' Bill, Dougie, and Will, he was educated in the Orleans Parish School system, graduating from Ben Franklin High School in 2012. He then attended Tulane on a full four-year academic leadership scholarship, as a part of the first class of Posse New Orleans Scholars. He spent time studying Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, and Communications. He also attended Delgado Community College. While at Delgado, he was afforded the opportunity to enter the field of Insurance and worked as a sales associate for Jonathan Stewart's State Farm office. He flourished in that role, relocating to Dallas, Texas in 2018 to work at State Farm Headquarters there. Although a full-time job helped Will earn a living, his true love was music. He is a self-taught drummer, unknowingly following in his paternal grandfather's footsteps who was a drummer as well. He began playing for his church at twelve years old. Will was always musically inclined, later in life, he focused on his love of singing with a desire to have a career in music. He sang wherever he could � karaoke on a cruise ship, a family reunion, a talent show, and a plethora of open mics. His music career developed as a recording artist and has recorded several singles under the stage name, Livm Svnko. Will was also a natural athlete. Once the smallest member of the Harrell Park playground football team, he was a natural star. When arriving at Ben Franklin, Will didn't have the typical height of a high school football player and still played starting Running Back as a Freshman. In addition to being a well-rounded young man, Will had a gentle heart and was one of the kindest spirits one would encounter. You felt it as soon as you entered his presence. Embodying the best qualities of both parents, he exuded his father's easy-going spirit and his mother's compassion and empathy for people. He loved to be around family and friends and was proactive about keeping in touch with everyone. With his sincere heart, Will always had a desire to please GOD. He was baptized and grew up in the church. At eight years old, he served as Junior Deacon at Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend Frank A. Davis III. As a young adult, he ventured on a mission trip to Haiti to help build a school. Seeing people there with so little, he was moved to leave his own clothing and shoes for someone there to use. That mission was a life-changing experience, where he recognized how blessed he was and decided not to take anything for granted. In September of 2021, Will placed his membership at Restoration Community Fellowship Church of Garland, Texas under the direction of Pastor Robert E. Shepherd, where he was a member of the praise team and led the Mime Ministry. While his desire was strong to please GOD he felt, at times, he faltered. He was continuing to seek the Lord while feeling pulled toward things of the world. This ebb and flow took him to a place where he was questioning and still seeking his place and a deeper connection with GOD. On the night of March 27, 2022, Will totally surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. In the midst of his struggles with extreme anxiety, Will put his trust totally in the Lord and began a beautiful personal walk with GOD. It was in the last five weeks of his life, that he was able to find the peace he had sought for so long. Unfortunately, hallucinations tied to his fears led to his untimely death. Will is survived by his parents William Collins Jones IV and Tanya Blouin Jones, his siblings Nya Elizabeth and Wynton Eli, his maternal grandparents John and Viola Blouin III, aunt Engelique R. Jones and his uncle John Blouin IV (Rasheda), cousins Demetrius Jr., Engel and Demarcus Robertson, John V and Sydni Blouin, uncles Demetrius Robertson Jr., Bryant Jones and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Will was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William C. Jones III and Connie Jones Marable, and paternal aunt Monique Jones. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, May 14, 2022 for 11:00 a.m. at Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church, 3308 Orleans Ave., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Frank Davis, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, the family requests that all attendees wear a face mask.
