William Norney Jordan, 90, of Newtown Square Pennsylvania peacefully passed away, after a long-fought battle with cancer, on December 8, 2022, surrounded by his family and friends.
Bill was an only child, born on February 8, 1932, in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents Mildred Frances Jordan and William Jordan. After graduation from West Philadelphia High School, Bill attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois to study English Literature and Theology. Bill cherished his years at Wheaton where he built special memories and strengthened the foundation of his faith.
Bill met his wife, Nora Mae Carroll, while attending the First Baptist Church in Newtown Square. Bill and Nora became actively involved at First Baptist, where they built lifelong friendships. Bill served the church as a Sunday school teacher, usher, and education director. Bill lived and raised his family in Broomall, Pennsylvania before moving to Newtown Square
Bill was employed for 24 years at Commercial Union Insurance Company in Philadelphia, PA as a subrogation claims specialist, before continuing his career in the insurance industry at Transamerica Insurance. Upon retirement, Bill volunteered his time to work at Interserve, an agency that provides opportunities for Christians to use their professional skills to serve others in Asia and the Arab world.
Bill's hobbies included photography, stamp collecting, and listening to classical music. He also loved researching and recording facts about his genealogy. Bill was an avid flower gardener who was proud of his roses. Bill was a loyal Philadelphia sports fan, who especially loved watching the Phillies play. He was actively involved in the lives of his grandchildren throughout their childhood and into their teenage years.
Bill was a family man who put God first in his life. He was a kind, compassionate, giving person, who was always looking for ways to support and pray for those around him. Bill was known for undertaking thoughtful detailed research and analysis before every key life decision.
William is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Nora Mae (nee Carroll) Jordan, his two children, Timothy Norney Jordan (Susan) and Brenda Ann Laessig (John), and his three grandchildren Lauren Olivia Jordan, Julia Jordan Laessig, and John Donald Laessig III.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation Thursday evening, December 15th 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and Friday Morning December 16th 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at The D'Anjolell Memorial Home, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008.

It/s true.... Bill Jordan was probably the closest friend in spirit I've had in the past 65 years. In later times we didn't meet often, but whenever we did speak we picked up and shared life's intimate details as if we had spoken yesterday. I will always be grateful for his sound counsel.
We were blessed to know Nora and Bill Jordan. We called them "The Rivers" and joked that they always flowed softly. May God bless and lead Nora and their family as their journey unfolds. RIP, Bill.... Dick Morris

Our meetings became fewer over the years, but we always picked up and shared our most inner confidences as if we had spoken yesterday. I will always be grateful for his sound counsel and fellowship. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Jordan, Tim and Brenda. Your father was such a kind, thoughtful man and a dear friend to my parents. Nothing but fond memories of him while I was growing up at First Baptist. I didn´t know he met Nora there; it´s touching that he´ll be interred in the church cemetery. - Jim
