We met Bill and Donna when we transferred from the Midwest to Longview. We were looking for a house to rent as we weren´t sure how long we would be there. We looked in the paper and found a beautiful house along Lake Sacajawea in Longview. Bill happened to be the landlord and we ended up renting the house and living there for 2 years before moving to Vancouver, WA. We were neighbors and it worked out great living next to him and Donna. We were not just renters, but became friends. For 20+ years we have enjoyed getting Bill & Donna´s Christmas card and letter! Bill did not mince words and you knew where you stood with him. He lived a wonderful life and we loved hearing about his travels. Our sympathy and much love to Donna and his family.

My condolences to Bill's family. I truly appreciated Bill's broad worldview and how he expressed himself in letters to the editor of The Daily News. I will miss seeing him out and about, always looking for ways to be of service in our community. Rest well, Bill!

What an absolute gem of a man. My sincere condolences to his surviving family and all who loved him.
I pledge that someday there will be a fountain on the lake in front of Kessler Elementary as he long advocated for.
Happy trails~

Bill always had an encouraging word whenever I met him in the community. We bonded over our common political interests via "letters to the editor" in The Dailey News. Bill could see, incisively, how our country was being manipulated. Bill wrote researched and detailed letters that went right to the point.
Bill's passion for Longview history and in helping us to remember where we came from in our countries history was genuine and sincere.
I'm so glad that I ran into Bill a couple of months ago at Fred Meyer. As we parted, something in me told him to ask if I could hug him. I did, and that was the last time I saw Bill on this planet.
RIP Bill. It's a blessing and a honor to have known you in my life
