William "Bill" Frederick Kinnan, Sr., was welcomed into Heaven by his Savior, Jesus, and by all his family and friends who had gone before, on September 10, 2025.
The son of James and Almeda Kinnan, Bill was born on December 7, 1929, in Washington, Pennsylvania, where he grew up with his two brothers and one sister. There, the Lord called him into vocational ministry, and he began his preaching ministry as a teenager.
He enrolled in Allentown Bible Institute where he met the love of his life, June Wiley. After marriage and graduation in 1950, Bill and June ministered together, pastoring churches in Pennsylvania and Michigan for 27 years, becoming beloved by hosts of parishioners. Then Bill served as the District Superintendent and respected mentor to pastors in East Michigan for 15 years. At the age of 62, he began 15 years of serving as an interim pastor at churches in Indiana and Michigan, finally entering into retirement at the age of 77. Even after retirement he continued to preach in churches and camps.
Bill was known as a winsome preacher, a storyteller, a man of great humor, a strong churchman and leader.
Beyond the legacy of his ministry, his greatest joy was that all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren serve the Lord, with several serving in vocational ministry.
Bill is survived by his wife of 75 years, June; his sons, Bill, Jr. (Donna) and Tom (Kathy); his daughter, Marilyn Runyan (Bill); his grandchildren, Heather Semple (Jeff), David (Katy), Kayla Culver (Brandon), Andrew Kinnan (Brittani), and Kendra Henley (Jeriah); and 15 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at The River Church, 759 S. Lenfesty Ave., Marion, IN.
A celebration of Bill's life will follow at 1:00 pm with entombment taking place at Grant Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kings Trust, 2601 W. Ticonderoga Dr., Marion, IN 46952. This is a mission organization addressing domestic and international needs. Thousands of people are being spiritually and physically impacted through Kings Trust.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
