William T Klapper

William "Bill" Thomas Klapper, a devoted husband, loving father, and esteemed member of the community, passed away on April 11, 2024, at his home in Middletown, at the age of 97. He was born on April 26, 1926, in White Plains, New York to Dr. Harry and Ethel Klapper.
Bill was a graduate of New York University School of Engineering and also attended Stanford University. He was a member of the Empire State Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and was a proud Army Veteran who served with the First Antiaircraft Artillery Guided Missile Battalion during World War II. In his professional life, Bill was a Chemical Engineer starting at Wallace & Tiernan in Belleville, NJ, and later at Stein Hall, Conoco, Pitt-Consol, and Englehardt Industries.
Bill was an intelligent and inquisitive individual with a passion for gardening and a knack for "Do-it-Yourself" projects. He enjoyed history (especially Zeppelins and other airships), photography, travel and cultural programs, cooking, classical music, and exploring the world of computers.
Bill's dedication to his family was unwavering, and he instilled values of responsibility and the pursuit of knowledge in his loved ones. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Ferrel; son, Kenneth Klapper; nephews Richard, David, Carl, Andrew; and a niece, Michele. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lois Klapper, and his brother, Harry Klapper, Jr.
Visitation to honor and celebrate Bill's life will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home at 115 Tindall Rd. in Middletown, NJ.
Bill Klapper will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of hard work, dedication, and love will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
