William Klug Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rose & Hughes Funeral Home on Jan. 16, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William R. Klug, who departed after a long and courageous fight with illness. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a dedicated member of his community, leaving behind a legacy of service and cherished memories.

William was married to Laura (Becker) Klug until her passing in 2014, sharing many years of companionship. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Walter and Rita Klug, and his siblings, Carol Willet and Richard Klug.

He is survived by his devoted daughters, Brandy (Lee) Hazzard and Holly (Andy) Seay, and his dear son, Scott Klug. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Stangle and his twin brother Walter Klug. His memory will also be treasured by his grandsons, Donovan (Crystal) Fox and Alex Mattice, who brought immense joy to his life.

Known affectionately to many as "Bill," he dedicated many years to his career, working at Sears as an over-the-road repairman until his well-deserved retirement. Beyond his professional life, he served his community as a proud member of the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department. Bill's presence was a fixture at their annual Ice Cream Socials, and his enthusiasm for the yearly Valentine's Day rose sale was infectious. He found great enjoyment in participating in black powder gun shoots, a testament to his adventurous spirit. His passion for the skies was also evident as a licensed Small Plane Pilot, soaring through the clouds with a sense of freedom and wonder.

Bill's kindness, dedication, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A Service of Remembrance will take place on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 6:00p.m. at the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY. Calling hours will take place prior to the service, beginning at 4:00p.m. All are invited to attend.

Private Interment will take place in the West Glenville Cemetery.

Memorial Donations may be made in his memory to the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department.
