William Kresse Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory - Bayside Chapel on Jun. 29, 2024.
Virginia Beach - William L. Kresse, 74, died at Sentara Leigh Hospital on June 24, 2024 from congestive heart failure. He was born March 2, 1950 at Euclid Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Louis and Dorothy (Brazofsky) Kresse.
While in Cleveland, he attended St. Gregory the Great and Cathedral Latin High School while living on S. Green Rd in the South Euclid suburb. When his family moved down from Cleveland to Virginia Beach in 1966, he transferred to Bayside High School (Class of '68) and then attended Old Dominion University, graduating in 1972 with a Bachelors in Psychology.
Soon thereafter, he married the love of his life, Janette C. Pilkington on November 18, 1973. In 1991, they had their first and only child, Vincent, (now 33). William and Janette were together in the same house for 48 years until her passing in August of 2022, leaving him with a broken heart.
He worked for all of his life, notably at the Little Creek Navy Exchange, Mary Jane Bakery, and the Amerigroup Corporation. He only retired in 2014, to care for his wife. His parents passing in '95 and '02 left him the patriarch of the Kresse family.
William is survived by his son, Vincent; his brothers, Robert J. Kresse and wife, Petra, of Virginia Beach, Brian A. Kresse and wife, Deborah, of Milford, DE, Louis J. Kresse and wife, Kellie of Kill Devil Hills, NC; brother-in-law, Archie (Wade) Pilkington and wife, Linda; and a plethora of nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel (1457 Independence Blvd, Virginia Beach). A viewing will be held for the hour prior to the service.
