William P. L'Heureux

Longmeadow-William P. LHeureux, 99, passed away on May 15, 2025 at his home. Born in Sanford, ME on May 4, 1926. He was the son of the late William J and Rose Anna (Morin) LHeureux. He proudly served his country in World War II in the United States Navy. He was stationed on the USS Patamint, with the fleet that participated in the invasion of Okinawa and witnessed the Kamikaze pilots that flew over the ship while he was at his battle station
He was transferred to Fleet Intelligence. Due to him speaking several languages, Bill was a French interpreter assisting children of the enlisted officers.
After his service, he was offered a print job in Springfield, MA. Bill met the love of his life, Doris (Martin). They shared 59 years together.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his best friend Ken Loughran (Bill loved him like a son). They were always there for each other. During Bills final months, Ken was there every day to be sure Bill was taken care of, happy, comfortable and always loved.
He also leaves his brother Richard LHeureux and his wife Juliana; sisters in-law Louise LHeureux and Jeannine LHeureux; nephew Michael Morin and his wife Patricia; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his Tuesday cribbage club Dick, Gregory and Taylor. All were very special to Bill.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Doris and his siblings Gilbert LHeureux, Roger LHeureux and Paulette Lapointe.
Family and Friends are invited to gather on Saturday May 24, 2025 from 9-10am at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. Funeral services will begin at 10am at funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 11am at St. Marys Parish,5109 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA.
